Digital Nomad Visa Spain in Polop

Spain's Digital Nomad Visa, formally the international teleworking visa introduced under Startup Law 28/2022, has opened a legitimate pathway for remote workers to base themselves in Polop while working for employers or clients outside Spain. Eligibility Requirements

The Digital Nomad Visa requires applicants to demonstrate that they work remotely for a company established outside Spain, or that they are freelancers with clients predominantly based outside Spain. You must show at least one year of professional relationship with your employer or, for freelancers, evidence of active client relationships for at least three months. The minimum income threshold is 200% of the Spanish minimum wage, which in 2026 translates to approximately EUR 2,520 per month gross. You must also hold valid health insurance with coverage in Spain, have no criminal record, and not be an illegal resident in Spain. Importantly, no more than 20% of your total work output can be directed towards Spanish companies or clients.

Application Process and Costs

The visa application can be submitted at the Spanish Consulate in your home country or, if you are already legally in Spain on another visa, at the Unidad de Grandes Empresas y Colectivos Estrategicos office. The standard processing time is around 20 working days. Our application preparation service is EUR 600 to EUR 900, which covers eligibility assessment, document compilation, drafting the required employer letter or freelancer declaration, tax planning advice for the Beckham Law regime, and submission support. The government application fee is approximately EUR 80. Once approved, the visa is valid for one year and can be converted to a three-year residency authorisation.

The Beckham Law Tax Advantage

One of the most significant benefits of the Digital Nomad Visa is eligibility for the special tax regime under Article 93 of the Spanish Income Tax Law, commonly known as the Beckham Law. This allows you to be taxed as a non-resident despite living in Spain, meaning your Spanish-source employment income is taxed at a flat 24% up to EUR 600,000 instead of the progressive resident rates that can reach 54% in the Valencian Community. Foreign-source income other than employment income is generally exempt. For a remote worker earning EUR 60,000 annually and living in Polop near Polop Castle or the Fuentes de Polop fountain square, the tax savings compared to standard resident taxation can exceed EUR 5,000 per year. Living in Polop as a Remote Worker

The practical reality of remote working in Polop is overwhelmingly positive. Fibre broadband is available throughout most of the urbanisation, with speeds of 300 Mbps to 1 Gbps from providers like Movistar and Digi. The cost of living in Polop is considerably lower than in major European cities. A furnished two-bedroom apartment near the Sierra de Aitana foothills rents for EUR 550 to EUR 900 per month. The proximity to Benidorm provides access to all necessary services, and Alicante airport is within reasonable driving distance for client visits or personal travel.
